First Big Smallmouth!!

Featured Replies

So I started fishing for smallmouth in the summer when I moved up to Blacksburg, VA for school.  I have been fishing the New river every chance I get. ( which is unfortunately not too often) but i found some good time to go down there on Friday.  I have caught a bunch of dinks down there but nothing of good size until now.  This one weighed about 3.5 I think and I caught it on a Zara Puppy!  Probably the most exciting way I could imagine Catching one of these.

Nice fish, dude!

Top water smallies rock!!

Smallies are the best, and top water fishing is the most exciting.

Combine the two and you've got yourself one hell of a great memory!

I've caught alot of smallies, but only 2 on topwater.  One was far away and also on a puppy.  The other was close and on a popper.

The popper smallie must have flew 2 feet out of the water!!

Nice fish!

Very nice fish. Congrats to you. I LOVE fishing for smallies. You just can't beat the fight they put up.  ;D

Congrats,

I also just started this summer for small mouth and can't wait for a fish like that to bite ;D ;D ;D
