I was out last week and did some smallie fishing that actually worked!  Caught 8 on a trout lure, biggest being 3.5 lbs.  The creek I was fishing was loaded!!  My buddies caught a good amount also, can't wait to get back and hit em again!!

Ditto.  Smallies are my favorite to catch...each one is its own experience, and one you won't forget.

It's a good thing you caught a smallie AFTER you caught a largemouth. Smallies have been my main fish since I began and they make a fight with a largemouth seem like your fightin' a wet towel I love them both equally, but smallies will always be my favorite haha

Tiny Torpedos have to be my #1 top water lure for smallies. The Black and the clear ones work best on the Juniata in my area. The worst, is the silver one with a blue head. I could throw that into a pool of smallies and they won't even look at it

yes i have to agree.  caught my first smallies this past week at pickwick.  think we caught in between 20-30 on wednesday.  i wound up with one 4 lber. my gf caught one that was 3 pounds and it ruined the zebco 33 she was fishing with.  she turned to me and said i think its time i get a baitcaster.  she is getting expensive and hard to beat fishing.   I also lost the biggest fish i have ever had hooked ill go on the conservative side and say it was around a 7lb smallie.  and that is being conservative.  ive never had anything fight like that one did.  and ive never wanted to cry so much from losing a fish hahaha

and anyone else used fluke's for smallie's.  this was pretty much all we had with us seeing as how we were catfishing but they werent biting.   but the smallmouths were hammering the fluke's

I use fluke's during post spawn on the river. I can't seem to get them to bite on them any other time. If you want to use soft plastics for smallies, nothing beats a 3 1/2 inch tube or a 4 inch curly tail worm. Smallies are partial to dark green and brown tubes around here.
