Got My Champion

Recommended Posts

Well, it got here. I'm addicted. I will be buying 2-3 more very soon. They just feel that good.

I got the 735c, which is a flippin' stick and small swimbait rod. It will be great for pitching heavy jigs and t-rigs around tight spots in cover, and flipping in pads and weeds. It's definitely A LOT stiffer than I thought it would be.

The details on this rod are amazing, the cork feels like God hand made it, it's balanced better than any rod I've ever held, and it just plain looks cool. You all should try one. It will cost you a lot of money though, as you will want to switch over to strictly Dobyns.

Thanks David for the help.

Told ya! Enjoy it! You think that one is good, try on a DX for size, or better yet, don't! That will cost you more money. That 735 is a sweet rod, you'll really like it, I have one in both the Savvy and Champion series. Enjoy!

Congrats on the new rod purchase, you're gonna love it

Nice. Glad you like it, I'm anxiously awaiting my DX795 because I know it's going to be everything and more.

I just got the 735C last week myself in an effort to try to force myself to learn how to flip/pitch heavy grass, and for bigger 5.5 - 6.5 in paddletails in thick grass

Let's see now...at last count, I now have a 683C, 703C, 704C, 705CB, 735C and DX 703 SF.

Like you said, these things are just plain comfortable to fish with. I can't say that the rod performance is that much above and beyond other rods in the same price range, but the way they feel in hand seals the deal for me.

What are you using your Champion 735 for?

I use it for pitching, flipping, soft swimbaits, frogs, stuff like that. I bought it as a jig rod, I like the 704 better for that though
