Choosing New Line

Featured Replies

I just recently went to bass pro shops and bought and rod and reel. I bought a bsp pro qualifier tournament bc paired with a bps bionic blade. I am going to use this setup for all around fishing. Basicly bottom bouncing, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and topwater. My question is, what type of line should i put on it for all around use? Also, what size should i get?

Thanks for the help

You want that stretch for spinnerbaits, so go with some mono. Can never go wrong with Berkley Trilene XL, and go with 12 # as previously mentioned.

I would much rather fish braid or fluorocarbon than mono when fishing spinnerbaits. I'd definitely not go with XL on a casting rod, either.

If you want a decent fluorocarbon, which is the better choice for an all around rod, I'd look into InvizX in either 12 or 15. I'd also highly recommend KVD line and lure. It will work wonders on the casting behaviour of your line.

10 or 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid or P-Line CXX co-poly. Sufix Siege if you want monofilament.

P-Line CX makes a 15# test line that is the diameter of 12# test. I've enjoyed that line for $7 (300 yards) its pretty solid.

It casts well on a baitcaster, has a bit of stretch (as does all mono and flouro) for those spinnerbaits and treble hook lures. But best of all it's never broken on me.

There you have it. Somebody says mono, another flouro, or braid, or co-poly. That pretty much covers all the bases. Glad we could be of service. :D

Try both of these: P-Line CXX #12 and Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12. Both are inexpensive, <BR>strong and highly resistant to abrassion.

I know it's a little on the pricey side for mono($10 330yds)but I have really been impressed with 12# Sunline Super Natural Mono. It's diameter is just as small as high end fluoro's. It's sensitive, managable, strong etc, etc...in short I've found nothing wrong with it so far.
