Im staying near George Mason University and I brought my rod and tackle. Are there any public ponds or small lakes that I can shore fish around?

    Where can't you? there are so many places to fish in ffx. Royal, Mercer, Huntsman, Burke to name a few.

    Burke lake would probably be the closest to you but also the toughest.

    Went to Lake Brittle. I was looking for a smaller lake and this one looked about right. About 55 degrees and windy. Threw a 3/8 oz spinnerbait w/ white blades for about an hour and a half. Not one bite. Switched to a senko for the next hour. Nothing.

    I had fun trying. That's why they call it fishing...
