Mimic Lures made the 'Flat Shad' for years before they were commissioned to make a run of them for Strike King.  Very nice flat-sided bait.  Strike King priced them at $17....available at Tackle Warehouse.  Mimic has a surplus of Flat Shad's (not under the Strike King Label) and he is selling them on Ebay....cheap.  Like $5 cheap.  I bought 20 and only paid $5 shipping.  Best deal I've seen in a long time.  I bought 4 each of these colors...

Jann's sells something similar (2.5 inch, 1/3 oz), called the FS medium diver, for 2.99.  You do have to add split rings and hooks.

I got mine yesterday and noticed that they are about 1/4" shorter than what they made for Strike King. Other than the overall length, the rest of the body is the same. Whale of a deal @ $5 each.

Put brand new rings and trebles on all of 'em today.

3-5' , the only place I usually won't throw a crankbait is thick grass

ok, that sounds like something I could use. I don't crank too much so I don't really get the whole wide vs. tight wobble and rocks vs. timber stuff.

FYI the Jann's are plastic and the Mimics are balsa.

Daiichi Death Traps. Best treble hook money can buy in my opinion.

I used 4's and 6's to see which one was more effective and which had the most positive effect on the action. Once I figure that out, I'll change all the others. I suspect 4's are going to win.

I got mine on Friday. Man....they looked even better in person. The pic of the bluegill pattern doesn't show the iridescent blue that is in-between the dark stripes. I kept admiring the paintjob throughout the day. It's a just a stupid-good deal; they offer everything a custom balsa crank should....without the $17-$20 price. They look as good as my WEC's.  I spent 30mins putting fresh rings and Gammies on them (#4 black nickel EWG's).  I'll put them through their paces tomorrow....

I've been using a couple of these for quite a while (2 years?).  Very good cranks in the vein of the Little Petey design.  Tight, natural action and profile.  I've done well with them.
