Stickjacket

Featured Replies

Anyone use Stickjackets here? If so,,theres something that I just don`t get. Lets say I have a 6 1/2 ft Avid Casting Rod. So,If I buy a standard Jacket which is,according to their website 5 1/2 feet long.. this places the end of the jacket past the reel doesn`t it? They are not adjustable as far as I can tell..I am confused as to how these can possibly fit properly. Anyone?

A general rule of 12 inches shorter than the blank will put the jacket at the right length. I've got a dozen or more and they've been right with every one.

I just looked at mine, they're not Stick Jacket. I have Rod Slicks. The 6.5-7.5 fit perfectly.

I figured that, but I quoted you without meaning to. We're both failures at quoting.

Yeah being you have Rod Sticks,,then I can`t ask you the question,, but 5`6" brings the stick jacket right smack dam in the middle of the reel seat. I just don`t see how it could possibly work.

I don`t see how its possible,, I just measured to see where 5 ft 6inches comes to on my 6`6 Avid..and it falls smack dam into the reel seat area..So how can the jacket be used if its that length?

I have a couple of rod slicks and I just roll them up at the bottom to keep them out of the way of the lure. Use a lure wrap on cranks though, those trebles will really get tangled in that mesh. That is why I really like the Cabela's rod sleeve with built in hook gaurd, and they are adjustable.

I will throw a couple on different rod lengths for you tonight and take some pics. Well atleast try I am on call for work.

I called Stickjacket, and the owner confirmed my concerns. I will not be getting stickjackets,he said it depends on the rod, they will not fit correctly on all rods. Checking into Rod Gloves now.
