Looks like a great Idea to me, but I'd like to hear an opinion from someone who has fished it.

I believe there was a post on this a little while ago. It should be killer for spawning bass. I haven't personally used one but it I think a matt lures u2 bluegill jigged off the bottom would be just as effective and much more versatile. It seems like a great idea but it limits the bluegill to a jig only.

Ive used them and I am quite impresed caught an 8 lber on the second cast made me a believer

This is what the BASS Times said about it:

The perch catches water and spirals down like a tube. Around deep cover, Mansue swims the bait toward the cover, then lets it spiral downward. I was fishing Rage Tail Shads, top water as advised, and due to gusty winds outside the cove I was in, got an occasional professional overrun that had to be dealt with. After THREE times of this shad getting mauled on the drop, the genius in me took over.

If that laterally rigged shad gets eaten falling sideways, this Lateral Perch must be a great idea.

They should be here in a few days.

This bait does very much the same thing as that Lateral Perch (I have both) and also gets used as a frog and can even be used on a Carolina Rig (Pure Agave color looks like a Smelt/Shad/Alewife).

Swimbait Hook or Pegged Texas Rigged it fishes like a Lateral Perch.

Weightless Texas Rigged and you have your frog/dying sunfish on the surface.

The Lateral perch work's well around cover,n in the bed's.Also it work's well on top.

Anyone else get line twists with it? I got one this winter, used it in early spring, got some twists, and have not used it since, which can be a huge mistake, just have been always throwing a traditional jig (and producing) instead of going back to it. Might be a mistake.

So Twists anyone? Anyone use a swivel with it?

I recently picked up one of these, and the problem that I find is that unless you keep the line semi slack to tight, the jig tends to land upside down and rest on the hook and weedguard. I am not a fan of a jig rolling over like that on the bottom, it makes me not want to use it for fear of losing it. When I do keep the line somewhat taut the jig wobbles back and forth as it drops, and if i let the line go completely slack it will spiral down and land upside down. If it landed upright every time I would be satisfied.
