Cleaning Cranks?

Featured Replies

I found a few boxes of cranks, they are discolored and some may be beyond saving. That being said what can I use to help clean / restore some of the better ones? Or is it better to just try and repaint?

KVD Line and Lure Conditioner should work. If not, warm soapy water and a toothbrush.

Thanks for the advice, I have tried this in the past with little success. I just don't want to throw out a couple hundred worth of crank baits. My son decided to play with them and not tell anyone they got wet and then he hid them in the garage.

The bass don't care if they are discolored , if they don't clean up , use them anyway. B)

Dirty beat up cranks look cooler anyway.

PS- Semper Fi.

Get yourself a plastic colander and wash them in warm water. Dry them, and spray them with Pledge furniture polish, then wipe off. It will give them a nice luster. Don't worry about the lemon smell, it only lasts a bit.

Pledge furniture polish is good for rods, eyes, grips, and wiping down reels. It also makes line slick and, IMO, outperforms specialty line sprays by a large margin. Pledge also neutralizes salt.
