Switching Frogs

Featured Replies

I've always been a Spro frog man, but while out today I picked up some snag proof frogs. I must say the snag proof frogs have alot softer body, but the reason I am trying the new brand is because all my Spro frogs have been taking on water even after only a months use. I dont like when my frogs dive....

Has anyone tried/compared different brands of frogs and found a favorite? blink.gif

maybe some tips to prevent my frogs from taking on water...

I read somewhere, maybe here, that you can super glue the hole shut and then cut a little slit between the eyes to make it collapse easier. I have yet to try this but it seems like it would work. Hope this helps

Ive been using the H2O hollow frogs. They seem to be pretty good quality. At least at the current moment they are. Only time will tell how long they hold up. Currenrly they seem pretty compareable to my spros in feel and quality.

Give the Snag proof Phat frog a try. You CAN'T sink this frog! It has a air chamber inside so it will NEVER sink. Great frog, it is the only one I fish anymore! I hope I did help.

I have probably 15 spro frogs and have caught maybe 5 fish on them but for some reason I still buy them. I get a lot more short strikes on the spro even with the trimmed skirts. If I see that I switch to scum frogs and I hook almost 100% of my hits the scum frog and snagproof mouse are my two best hook ratio topwaters.

The superglue thing didn't work for me I patched so many pike tooth holes it made my frogs sink but with the scum and snagproofs there only 3 or 4 bucks as spros are 10

Bend your hooks up and out jist alittle and you will have much better hook ups.

Koppers Live Targets look pretty good. We've had a cold spring in NoVa, so I haven't tried these out yet, but they look superb. I hear a lot of complaints about dull hooks out of the box, but the two I have are just as stabby sharp as anything else I have.

I love these posts that blame the frog for missed hook sets, short strikes etc...... it's not the frogs fault. I have fished just about every frog made, THEY ALL TAKE ON WATER, it's the nature of the design. I will take a Spro frog over any other frog any day of the week. I'd offer to show some of you WNY guys how/when/why I fish a frog, but the last time I did that I regretted it.

What happened?

I've been totally hung on the Dahlberg frog. I love the stupid thing. It fishes great, is very good on hook sets, it's got a tremendous action, it's easy to see, and it catches fish. As other frogs go, I'm a Scumfrog lover. Good hooks, good body, easy sets = Happy Hooligan.
