mattlure hard gill........color choice opinions....

Featured Replies

im about to place my order this friday and im completely amped!!!!!!!

definetley purchasing a mattlures hard gill (among other things)....but im torn on colors......(floating model)

male bluegill......or red ear sunfish....

honestly, they all look so amazing im sure it wont matter...but thats the dilemma im in....

what are your thoughts...............

i will go with the consensus!!!!!

ive seen both in my "main" fishing spot.....

but bluegill seem to be more common for the all around....although my other spots have good populations of sunfish, so......

its a hard choice.......their sooooooooo perfect..... i wish i had money for both!!!!

Personaly i'd shop around look for cheaper swimbaits that look just as good @ 1/2 the price, their out there.I'd check swimbaitnation.com or tackleunderground.com.They always got guys on both sites willing to offer sellers or make baits for you personaly.

you wont find a bluegill bait that looks better than matts or swims better it is well worth the money. be sure to look on matts site he has some colors not offered on other sites like tw.

I would definitely be willing to pay more to a guy who is a contributing member of this site than someone else.

matts don't just look good they perform and catch fish, customs are options to but i haven't seen any that look as good as his for the same price or less there are some good ones and yes i have seen many customs that are great but nothing compares. If you have found some that are close i would like to see them because im always looking for a good lure.

Why not the female bg..?

male bluegill.

problem solved. your welcome ;D

Thanks for the kind words fellas. Any time I choose a color for using a swimbait I try to think about where I will be fishing it the most and which forage species is the most common or which ones the bass feed on more. Choosing betwwen sunfish species where both are present can make it a tough choice.

Fishdontlikeme can you post a picture of this bait ?

the orange breast.

I will say this, I think those Castaic rock hard shad look realy good. and I have played with them at Icast. I think they will beat all the little hard shad baits.

those baits are truely spectacular to say the least , the female and male are my choices , yeah i'm gonna get both , in floating AND sinking models !!!! but i think bass have the tendancy to be more aggressive towards the males . i some times fish with bluegills (live) and i always try to catch big males and they seem to really try to crush them .

i don't know about that tail hook placement , looks kinda iffy to me . i couldn't imagine haulin a double digit bass to the shore or boat by that hook.
