Anyone have trouble hooking bass with these? I know to wait to set the hook{easier said than done sometimes },but it seems a lot of my hookups come unglued.  just wondering maybe me or the lure?

yep...i have the chartreuse one. It produces some huge hits but i only seem to get the fish in the boat 1/3 the time....i dont make it weedless anymore because i was always losing them, just remember to be patient, and wait a second after the hit then set it.

how did you make it nonweedless?

i think these things are too light and real flimsy , that's maybe why you can't get good hook sets with them , there is just not enough bulk to them . maybe try adding some weight to them would help  :-?

No I don't think that a "courtesy flush" will help out. Get a clothes pin for your nose.

You don't ALWAYS want to wait a second when throwing a frog. It takes time to learn what type of strikes you should set right away, and which you should wait a second.

I hate those frogs, dislike the bend in the hook, and the feel of them.

Also, are you throwing it with braid, and a beefy enough rod?

It does in a way since the best way to not lose fish on that POS lure is to not use it all.There are far better options for these types of lures.

If I buy a bait that is total junk and doesn't work at all or it doesn't have any action whatsoever then I feel cheated out of my money.I like to fish my baits and play with them,not throw them in the garbage. :

Still frog fishing takes a little practice and Brokejeu pretty much summed it up. Misses will happen with these lures no matter the brand.There are just a few things you can do to increase your odds, and as always practice makes perfect.You begin to get a sense of how and when to yank em.For example if the fish just swirls under it and gently sucks it under smack them that very second.It is the sudden blowups that are hard to get through.

Don't give up on them. They do have great swimming action. They also are fairly light so I use them on heavy spinning tackle and 20-30 lb powerpro braid. No problems hooking fish so my guess is it's not the bait. I have noticed some have thicker bodies than others. I wrote a letter to Southern Lure Co. a while back and they said they were aware of the problem and were correcting it. They sent me 5 baits and all had heavier bodies. Alot of times the fish will inhale the bait and a pound of junk surrounding it so no matter what frog you have on or when you set the hook, you ain't gonna get him.

Be your own judge. If you listened to what most people say here, all you would use would be Shimano, Loomis and Lucky Craft. Not bad choices by any means but not the only ones either.
