Dish Network Dropped Wfn In Hd

Featured Replies

Just found out Dish dropped WFN in HD. So they could make room for future launches in HD. So glad they saved the cream of the crop HD channels like Golf, Tennis, Food, Cooking, and thank god Ophra.............:angry:

Just wish I had it Direct still won't get it. Guess it gives me a reason to go fishing instead of watching.

Ok and guess I won't miss it since I wasn't paying that bit extra to get the HD for just WFN.

My family are just not TV enthusiasts so we don't really care about HD. In fact I told them we didn't want it at any added costs.

That sucks! We did away with Cable in any form because it just wasn't worth it. Paying extra just for HD didn't help either. Better to go fishing than watching it on TV I suppose.

Funny. At first, WFN was only available on HD on Dish Network. While I wish the HD was still available, there is a lesson to be learned.

Though some mock golf, and OWN (I'd never watch OWN), the reality is that they make these decisions according to ratings and popularity, or their anticipation of ratings. Truth is, we fishermen are a small minority as far as tv goes. A lot more people play golf, and have an interest in seeing it on television.

There are more golf courses than places to fish around here, and the courses are much more crowded, particularly in the warm months. Personally, I'm glad that's the case. Fishing would be impossible if all the golfers switched to fishing.

But, there would be an silver lining to this. There would likely be more, and better television programming about fishing.

this news is a big drag if you watch WFN in HD, but the upside is that WFN is now available in an outdoor bundle in SD with Sportsman and Outdoor channels for only 3 bucks a month on DISH. And we all know that it's only a matter of time when every channel is HD.. so this may in fact draw more viewers to the channel.
