Need Help On The Shenandoah

Featured Replies

im going fishing on the Shenandoah for the weekend gonna be kayaking. haven't smallmouth fishing so was hoping i could get some advice. what should i throw. and has anyone had some luck on it lately?

I was on the South Fork of the Shenandoah near Front Royal last Saturday. 3-4" curl tail grubs, white or chartreuse, are cocaine to smallies. Chartreuse was the better last week. Spinnerbaits in same colors are also good. Caught 20 with three in the 16" range. Enjoy.

Watermelon double tail hula grubs (or pumpkin) can be deadly as well as weightless senkos. The doah has suffered in the past 10-15 years. There are still fish to catch, but the numbers were unbelievable in the early 80's and 90's.

Definitely stock up on some grubs and bring some topwater with you, pop-r's and torpedoes.

sounds good. thanks for the help. looking forward to catching some smallies and getting some god pictures ill post them after the trip. gonna be a great time.

There's a thread going in the Southeast forum about the Shenandoah river as well. Letting you know in case you want to check that.

Water level was perfect this weekend and so was the weather except for today it rained a majority of the day.

We nailed quantity and quality fish. Both Large Mouth and Small Mouth. Even some cats at night.

We'll be hitting the river again in a month or so. Great time was had by all.
