I'm trying to find a knot to tie braid to braid of the same diameter 30/8#. I tried the Uni to Uni but in testing it after having it tied it was breaking but not at the knot but a little further up. Does the braid cut into itself and weaken the line? Is there another good braid to braid knot that I can try?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

I use a unit to uni for a braid to braid connection. Try to avoid sinching your knots tight untill you have pulled most of the slack out of the lines.

Should be no issue with a uni to uni.

Ok I'll try the Uni to Uni knot again and see how it works out this time.

Braid to braid I use a blood knot, no problems as long as it's tied correctly.

I've got old, worn braid as a backer on some reels. It's lighter than mono.It never sees the light of day, so it doesn't matter what's down there.

...and if you do get spooled to the backing knot I feel alot better knowing the backing is a decent braid rather than an old mono. Uni knots work for me in this situation. I do leave a 3/8" to 1/2" tag on all braided knot ends. It gives just a little more security if the braided line should slip just a little (and it sometimes does). Unlike nylon or fluoro mono the braid tag ends have no effect going through the guides or being fished in weeds.

The spool I had the braid on was getting low and on long cast I was getting down to the mono backing. I wanted to add the last 25 yards still on the spool so that I wouldn't have this problem.
