Ruger 250-3000

Featured Replies

I read some where,I forget where, that this is a high dollar rifle. When I got around to researching it I couldn't find one above $400.00. Are there different models, one of which may be rare.

What Ruger is it? I Googled it and it looks like Ruger currently (or in the past) chambered their M77 bolt action and No.1 single-shot in .250 Savage. The M77 is a reasonably priced rifle. The Ruger No.1 is a pricier gun. If its a custom Ruger (and they probably exist) they could be very expensive, indeed.

The .250 Savage was introduced by Savage in 1915. The cartridge was designed for Savage by Charles Newton. As originally factory loaded, the .250 Savage drove an 87 grain spitzer bullet to 3000 fps. This is why it was also known as the .250-3000. It was the first standard US cartridge to achieve that muzzle velocity.

Cabela’s Gun Liberty list 4 @ $1,000 + but all are Savage rifles ;)
