Baits For 5'6" Light Rod?

Featured Replies

I found a spare Berkley Cherrywood in my basement so I threw on one of my Shimano Sahara 1000FD's with 4lb mono. Any recommendations for lures? I don't really do much light stuff, it's rated for 1/8oz. to 1/4oz. I put a Strike King Bitsy Minnow on it and it casted fine so that's a reference.

I personally like to use a short rod for topwater lures, like Pop-R's and Spooks - seems a little easier to put some action in the lure. JMHO

I have this just haven't used much but perch does love it. Small bombers maybe??

When I'm bored and catching dinks for the day I tie on a wacky rig on my 5' ultra lite and go to town. Mine has 6# test on it.

I landed a 2 1/2# bowfin on that setup but that was with a real worm and bobber.

1/8-3/16 slider spider head and a 4" worm
