My son has been using an Abu Garcia Verdict. I really can't say I'm impressed with the Verdict. While taking it out of my truck rod holder, the tip exploded into 3 pieces... Maybe he hit hit it on something the last time we were out but... Not overly impressed.

Happens I know... But still stings.

Now he's using my Powell Max.

funny you mention this. i was a bass marshall earlier this year for a certain well known pro that will remain nameless. I had been lookikng for a new rod for jigs and noticed he had a verdict with a shaky head on it. I asked him if he liked the verdict and if it would be good for jigs, he said quote "hell no, biggest piece or S&^t i've ever seen, i've broken at least 10 of them". About and hour later, he broke another one. He used the veritas for his moving baits, spinner baits etc, but not for anything requiring any feel. I asked if he liked the veritas, his reply "at least they don't break!".

The Veritas is certainly more durable. I really like the 683C Powell so I'm sure my son will as well.
