Northern Virginia

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am looking for a little help finding some spots in northern virginia - Arlington/Falls Church/Springfield/Annandale to fish (specifically during my lunch break). I have been hitting holmes run up for the last couple of months and looking for something different that I can get to in 10 or 15 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Smart phone and google maps is a good start:)

Thanks, for the advice. I have been using the satalitte feature on my phone to find water, but there is a liitle info on line regarding fishable waters. I was surprised to find that holmes run (right below columbia pike) holding some nice bass. I have tried four mile run near wilson and only caught a few sunfish. Do you know if Beaver Pond in Ballston produces anything or even if it accesible?

Look at Roosevelt island around the walking bridge if you are in the ballston area and four mile run has a good area under the rt 1 bridge tho it's better in my opinion in the colder months

Roosevelt island? You don't say. I never thought about trying to fish up and around the area up there....... I never really hear of guys fishing much north of the Pentagon Lagoon (not that I am some Potomac expert, far from it).

Anyone every hit it up there from a boat or yak? That is DC license territory if on the water right? Anyone ever hit up the key bridge then, seeing it is just up river?

I would def be interested in getting the inflatable out there if guys thought it was worth it.

Had some awsome smallie days fishing from the bank under the walking bridge 3+ lbs for about an hour one time!! Some times it's on, others, not so much. Try it when it's cooler! You will need a D.C liscense

Thanks..... I thought that was starting to get into smallie territory up that way........ Not sure exactly where it started, most people I have heard talk about the "upper" potomac more up by md.

hey now I gotta agree with the Roosevelt island Pick...but if you make the drive up to Chantilly or a lil further UP 66W to Gainesville/Haymarket areas there plenty to had... http://yfrog.com/hs6iigjj pic is from yesterday...

I fish in the Gainesville/Haymarket areas too. And yes there out there.. Lake brittle is good spot too.

Chantilly is a hit or miss for me. out of all the spots I found in Chantilly, I found only one.

Ya gotta love it when GOD wakes the fish up with a "lil quake" today: http://yfrog.com/khcxtixj three hours after the quake via my new shakespere rod, a 2/0 hook and a trusty Zoom red bug....

nice one!!

I also went fishing yesterday too and caught a couple on the frog
