With jigs I 'm as cheap as I can get for a very simple reason, I loose them  :-/, the most I can get out of a jig is two or three outings in the best case, lost so many on the first cast that I 've lost count, so I when I purchase jigs I get the cheapest ones I can find with only two conditions:

1.- razor sharp hook

2.- good quality hook

I see no point in spending 3-4 dollars in jig that it 's not going to last much ( last time I fished with jigs I lost 5 in a couple of hours, 2 in the same submerged mesquite tree ), that 's why I purchase BPS jigs.

As for the trailer, in practical terms, almost any soft plastic bait can be used as a trailer, I use trailers, grubs, frogs, craws, lizards and even brush hogs; all of them are "perfect".

The perfect jig combo is the one I'm catching on at the time :)

Sorry there is no such animal in existence & anyone telling you otherwise does not know jig fishing.

BINGO!!!!  That's why I started making them myself.  I have my cost down (not including my time) to around $1.00 to $1.25 per jig.  What's great about it is there is hardly any work for me to do... i'm not pouring the lead.  I found a company that pours near perfect jig heads from .35c to .65c.  They have a great selections of Gammy and Owner hooks.  Then i'm buying skirts from Russ at *** for ~.50c.  The only part I HATE is powder painting them.  But I just found out the place I buy jigs from will powder paint them for an extra .05c per   ;D.  It's nice being able to break of jigs and not give a sh!$   :)
