White Spots On My Humminbird.

Featured Replies

I left my 597 on the boat overnight which was tied up to the dock. The next morning there were little white spots on the black casing only, none on the screen. At first I thought a bird had made a strafing run but that would have hit the screen also. Plus the spots are all very small, not a big blotch. I tried wetting my finger and wiping them off and it did help a little, but that is as far as i went as I do not want to damage the unit without knowing how to properly clean it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I always clean my unit with a spray bottle of water/vinegar mix & then wipe with a soft clean t shirt. Also never let any one touch the screen with their fingers.

Just had a friend tell me it might have been from insect repellent. Anyone have any similar experiences? Might explain why the screen wasn't effected.

Still need to find a safe way to clean off the case.

Ken, have you been taking your "problem" in hand again? My new Lowrance SI gear really turns me on, but not THAT much.

If you used insect repellant with Deet, that is the result, found that out the hard way!!

You're one sick puppy.

That's what I like about you though!

The only approved cleaner for the screen is Windex with Vinegar. I would try that first incase you have overspray and something hits the screen.

Better watch what environment you are using your Hummingbird in.

Kelley-

Remember that my M-I-L is staying with us. The old bird isn't getting used as much as normal these days.
