Hozuri Hybrid For Cranking On Baitcaster

Featured Replies

Hello,

Have used 8lb Ultra soft on my spinning tackle and like it a lot. I have a new Baitcaster for spinnerbaits and medium cranks.

Here are my questions: Should I use the Ultra Soft or the original? What lb test line is appropriate for spinnerbaits and med. cranks?

Thanks for your help.

Larry

You should use the original hybrid line. I use 12# test.

I prefer the Hybrid over the Ultra Soft. I use 10# for cranking and 12# for spinnerbaits. If you had to choose one or the other, I would recommend 12#.

Almost all of my cranking is done with Hybrid #10. Square bills are done with #15 as are spinnerbaits. I have had great success with that line. ;)

Great line.

Original will be fine on casting equipment and depending on if you crank in wood, grass, or open water, and depth, I would use anywhere from 10# to 17#

Original 10lb on my crankin' and topwater rods, even on a spinner for wacky rigs. For spinnerbaits, I'd go a little heavier with 12, but the Hybrid is nice line.

I use 12 pound hybrid for all three of my baitcasters and 8 pound hybrid for my two spinning outfits. I have trouble finding the ultrasoft at the places I buy gear. With the normal hybrid I've only have had a few very minor snarls, easily straightened. There may be better line out there but I'm sticking with what I know works well. I wish it were more available.

The original hybrid is excellent line. 12# is a good choice for cranking. I also like the 10#.
