Push Poles?

Featured Replies

Once upon a time I had a 10' collapsable push pole. It had a "Y" shaped 2" wooden foot on it. One branch of the "Y" had a 1.5" stainless spike on it and the other one had a open eye screw. It was extremely effective as both a push pole and a lure retriever. I don't find anything like this at any of the big sporting goods stores. Any suggestions?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this post.

How about a painter pole that extends? We had a nice one where I work, use it to get stacks of insulating foam unstuck in a grinder could really put pressure on it. It couldnt withstand being ran over by a forklift though. Ive thought about getting one for a pushpole to get through lilypads (I have inflatable boat). The only thing what keeps them from just sticking way deep in the bottom of lake?

The Avery® Trac-Loc Push Pole was designed with the waterfowler in mind! This 3-section, all aluminum pole collapses to 54" total length so you can store it in just about any boat box.

I have the one mentiioned above by Catt on my boat.

It has saved my bacon many times as I go into shallow water.

Once time I got caught on low tide in a creek and had had to push pole myself out to the main river.

Last tournament on the Chickahominy River last month I got stuck on a submerged tree trunk in Morris Creek and had to use the pole to get me off the wood and back into the creek.

Very good investment and when the time comes to use the push pole you will be glad you have it with you. :)

I was going to say that I have used an old Pool Skimmer pole and I have uses the handles to roof rakes, but that Avery Pole is only like $30 (plus tips) and a waaaaaaay better design!

I also use the one Catt suggested. I am a shallow water fisherman so it stays in my boat. It's the way I move my boat around in the lily pads & eel grass. It's quiet & I feel it helps by not running the fish off. Can't sneak up on a gator though.

The last time I went to Bass Pro (Independence, MO) I saw they had push poles. I already have one so I didn't get one. It seems like they were in the $30 range.
