May Have A Trim Problem Here...

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I had the boat out all day today and as i was getting ready to load the boat onto the trailer, i was attempting to raise the motor. It didnt have the winding noise it usually does whenever i raise or lower the trim. It was almost like a clicking noise but it was raising the motor very slowly. Once i got it up on the trailer and on flat ground, i attempted to lower it then raise it again and it worked fine.

So once i got home and got it in the garage, i again tried to raise and lower it with the same weak clicking noise. After playing with it for about 30 seconds it seemed like it caught on again and was able to quickly go up and down.

Does anyone know what could be the problem? I just installed a new reservoir a few weeks ago but I have had the boat out twice now with no problems whatsoever. The battery could be a little weak as I have not charged it in a couple outings but all of the other electronics and the motor cranked right over when I started it so i didnt think that could be the problem.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Battery or a loose/dirty connection. Maybe the switch is going bad.

Or a relay going bad

sounds like a dead battery. Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. It also jumped when I tried to lower the motor. Charged the battery and all was fine.

x2 on the relay if it's in only one direction, and x2 on the battery if it's in both up and down directions.

i am gonna charge up the battery today so hopefully it does the trick. I am actually using the deep cell battery instead of a cranking battery so that is probably the problem. These batteries are pretty old so I am sure they arent as strong as they used to be. Ill let you guys know if i fixed the problem!

Happy labor day
