So How About That Rain

Featured Replies

so much rain!!!!! messing up my fishing couldn't get out all week cause of these massive downpours we got. now the rivers are full and flowing to hard and the ponds and lakes are murky sad times. It did give me time to work on my newly acquired boat so that it'll be ready to get out on the water this coming week. just in time to take out a friend who is returning for a couple weeks after boot camp and his training school for the air force, very excited to get one of my best friends out on the water again with myself and dhami so we can get some nice bass, the three amigos out once again been to long since we've been out as a whole group watch out bass were coming. how did everyone else spend there time during the inclement weather the past couple weeks?

Yep allot of rain. I did try and go out the past Thursday around 9am to 12:30pm with the wife after our son got on the bus for school. I landed only 3 lil guys and my wife nothing. Here though allot of rain the lakes and pond not to bad. Not clear lies usual but not dirty brown neither. The bite was very off when we went but also a place I'm not fimiliar with at all to even know about this place. Me and her will try again this following Thursday if weather still holds good. I'm deciding if want to hit Bowie Pond tomorrow for a few hours before football starts. Not sure yet I guess I have to wait and see how I feel then in the morning. Being from Fredericksburg have you tried Mott's run this year? I'm hoping to make it before the end of fall. I haven't fished there in years but never for bass fishing. Well good luck when y'all get out!

Nah haven't ever seen to Motts as i recall. this past summer i have hit Anna, the rap, Shenandoah, Ni river res, and the various ponds in the area, found some quite pleasant ones this summer that have been holding some nice bass oh and me and Dhami went out to Quantico to fish a stream we hit every summer. But ill be able to expand this fall with the new boat gonna hit the bay in the next 2 weeks no sure what were gonna go for yet though, gonna have to do a bit of research for that since i don't fish the bay much. Have you tried anything new this season?

You mean like new lakes and ponds? If so a few with no luck three I went Skunked on. Diascund, Powhatan lakes(both), and Chesdin. I want back to a few AP hill ponds that I had no luck last year out and did good there this year. I only fish the Ni twice this year and I fish the Rap by boat off in Hopyard landing. Nothing big for bass but a 3# cat and a 4# bowfin, lol. I tried Caroline pines on Thursday with only 3 small ones. Will be going back next Thursday if weather hold up. I blame the weather for the bad turnout on Thursday. I will like to hit Ni Res one more time before they close, Hunting Run and Mott's as well. I haven't really been going far since I'm next to AP Hill and I enjoy fishing their ponds and lakes. AP Hill even got newer listing of ponds this year from last year by the map I got but I haven't yet try them. One is called Lunker hole. Allot of the Ponds aren't boat accessible or by land so I'm hoping this winter to land me a Kayak of some sort. God I wish I kept my 11' jon boat. Cause I'm sure if the ponds are holding their not being hit often. You don't see many fishing in the base either since they have three that doesn't require going through base and the checks. Bowie pond, Smoot's pond and White lake. I was also hoping to Briery for the first but have not yet. Is that one pond still in Fredericksburg I think it was called Buds pond but I might be wrong it's behind some townhouse's somewhere just can't remember, haven't been there since my teen days. I've been also meaning to hit the ponds off of Gordon rd as well just not done it this year. My brother said he fish a few near the one we hit last year but I never fished them yet. My chatterbait is missing those small ponds, lol.

Have you, Dhami or anyone y'all know ever fished Ruffin's pond off rt 2 near Lee's Hill and Tidewater? I've been wanting to try there but afraid of getting in trouble since I don't live in Ruffins nor have permission.

I fished Hunting Run on the 11th expecting it to be heavily stained and a slow bite. The water ended up being clear and the bite was good. We caught over 25 fish. Most of them were 1/1 lb at around 10inches. Brought a a few over 12inches in the 1.5 - 2 lb range. All-in-all a great day compared to the last few outings!!

Fishing for Squid, I hit one of my favorite ponds yesterday and it was at full pool.

The large ladies were active and I landed four out of five.

Water was in the grass and stained.

But they wanted my shaky head and Slider presentations and the fishing was great for the hour and fourty-five minutes I was there.

So give the ponds a few more days and go out and have some fun.

As for the rivers, they may take a few days longer to clear up in Virginia. ;)

One-Fish Anna should be fine.

The larger bodies of water should be ready for some fishing for this weekend. ;)

Dhami hit me up in PM about a certain lake that has me intrigue. Me and the wife went to a lake just Thursday. I posted it in the my fishing trip section on the forums.
