The river I fish (Kankakee in Illinois) is so shallow right now. On average its 2-3 feet deep in most spots. Its very frustrating because its hard to find any deep holes.

Anyone have any advice on what I should do? Maybe just go fish another place for the time being?

Yeah I've been doing some of that also. Took the last few days off from Fishing since its dead. Gonna head somewhere new this weekend and give that a go.

I have no idea about your river...but shallow water is my specialty. I like to work the surface with the a Pop R, weight Bass Assasin, and Frogs.

Im fishing a creek that sounds alot like what your dealing with. Id bet the fish are concentrated in what holes there are. If you find any holes I bet more than one bit will come from it.

You can try satellite images that refresh daily, such as google earth w all the plug ins or even nasa. I was gonna try this this weekend. When the water is shallow the holes should show up pretty easy. You can also look for current breaks and eddies so your not spending all your rime in the same shallow spots.

Shallow cranks and grubs when fishing a shallow part of a river. Drop jigs or plastics in the holes. That is what I would do.

My local lake is 40 feet deep in places, but all summer long I've been catching bass in a cove that is 1-3 feet deep. T rigged Senkos, unweighted have been effective.
