I fish a lot of tournaments out of my 17ft Ranger Sport R72 but it isn't big enough for what i do.

I can only fit one of my 7 rod combos in my rod locker which i stumble over constantly on my deck.

I am looking at a 2002 Triton TR20 Dual Console with a Yamaha 225. Anyone have one, fished out of one or really looked into them? I want a boat that has alot of storage space (biggest rod 7'11") , a good livewell system, is comfortable and handles well.

Any opinions, thoughts, or concerns are appreciated!

I went from a 17 foot fiberglass bass tracker to a triton tr21 this year. The difference is unbelievable . The ride is so much smoother. I roll over stuff at full throttle that beat me to death in the old boat. The deck space is really nice on the bigger boat. If the boat is in good shape go for it you won't be dissapointed.

The speed and chine walk scared me to death at first. My old boat did 39mph and now I'm running 70+ but now its fun .

Haven't had a boat pass me in this one either which I hated in the smaller boat.

I owned a later model of the TR20 and have nothing but good to say of it. It was a great boat with more than adequate storage and excellent handling. While I had the 250, the 225 is more than enough to power that ride. My singular complaint is that the hull is heavy, I believe it weights in at 1900 and change. The only problem I had was that I had to replace the pump-outs because of the location a couple times. No issues other than that.

It handles well, mine was a 77MPH boat with tournament load and just me. Fill the livewells and the gas and it would push 72 still. I could have gotten faster if I changed the jackplate and prop, but it was enough. The TR20 WILL chine walk, not just waver, but WALK if your trimmed loose, it isn't a situation of driving through it, either. The pad setback is far enough that if there is enough weight right or left of center the upper sponson will catch and start you to walking; just beware of it. I hit it only one time and feared ever hitting it again, it was that much a scare.

A great boat with a great hull. The TR series hulls were the fastest hulls triton built. Like Hooligan said though, they do walk bad. I had a TR196 and that thing started walking at 67 mph. It takes alot of time and practice driving it, but it is a smooth ride in rough water and had plenty of storage. You will love it.

A client of mine (who has never owned a boat) has a tr20 and I'm teaching him how to run it. It has a 250 xs merc and will absolutely fly. We were running across Kissimmee in a pretty heavy chop and looked down and we were doing 68 with plenty of pedal left. The ride was so smooth you did not notice the speed.

Get use to the chine and you'll be fine, seat time is vital!

You will enjoy the TR20. It has plenty of storage space for rods, baits and accessories. Good handling and good running boat. I have one and love it.
