Me And Corey Busting Up Some Big Snakeheads And Bass

Featured Replies

I know I have said that Snakeheads are bad for the native species.......but dadgum they are fun to catch! Corey and I busted up some large snakeheads and a few good bass up to 5#. I broke another Cumara, this time it was user error. Pretty bumbed cause I just got them back from the Shimano warranty center. The highlight of the day was the expression of gratitude on the face of the maintenance men when i offered him the fresh fish. Priceless!

Shane I would like to thank you for the intel on where to get some snakleheads. Got out today and got a few, 13 snakeheads to only 5 bass. The big snakehead went 5.2 lbs. Just wondering is there an easy way to fillet those things. D*%N.

Those snakeheads are crazy looking. I hope they don't make it out to CA or my kids will never swim again.

Just charcoal grill them whole after gutting them. The skin with scales can be peeled off pretty easy when cooked. Stuff in some lemon grass inside the belly before grilling.

But the best way to prep them is to stuff the belly them with:

Chopped onion

Chopped tomato

Chopped Cilantro

Mixed with achovy ( can be replaced with salt and pepper).

Grilled whole in charcoal.

Note: do not scale them. The scale will be more of a cover the meat from getting charred.
