Has anyone had any experience with the Ascend sit on top kayak from Bass Pro Shops? I know very little about fishing kayaks and this is one that I am considering. I just wonder what makes it so much less expensive than the Wilderness Systems Ride 11.5 that I really like.

Get some seat time in both, and you'll see the difference. Other differences you won't see are thinner plastic, especially at the keel, which wears out quickly. All of that is moot, if it's what you can afford now, and it gets you out on the water. They aren't bad at all for the money.

Go with the Wilderness Systems if you can afford it, I think you'll be glad you did. Hey Francho, I mentioned earlier that I was thinking about getting that Ride 135. I finally got a chance to try it out from the dealer and man I love that thing. Before seeing it I was going to get another OK Trident, but I really like this Ride 135. That track system is really neat and other companies offer so many different mounts for it. However, I think the Trident is faster and I like how fast I can get across the lake. If only OK would put that track system on their Tridents. Trident 15 or Ride 135??? I wish the wife would let me buy both!

I watched a video about the mighty mount at our local kayak dealer, made my mouth water! Man, the things you can mount on a Ride 135 using that trax system and the might mounts. I wanted to upgrade to the OK Trident 15 for the speed...what would Francho do??

After doing a little more looking I see why I need to spend some more money. The Wilderness Systems Tarpon 12 also looks like one that I will consider.

I will be bass fishing but will also take it out on the flats for sea trout and redfish. The Tarpon looks like it would be faster but not as conducive to standing.

The dealer is having a demo day in a couple of weeks so I will have an opportunity to try them then.

Not conducive = not possible. Well, anything is possible, but with a Ride, you fall off before it rolls.
