For those who might want one, the BPS Pro Qualifier baitcast reels are on sale for $80.

Who makes those?

They used to be made by Pflueger, but I don't know who makes them now. They are fantastic reels, $80 is a steal!

Great reels for the money. I have several and they have performed without failure for a couple of years. Probably not the best for very light lures but general fishing they are very good. They are also available in a wide range of ratios...........Al

I know Pflueger and Browning made the BPS branded reels in the past. The guys behind the counter say the manufacturer is Browning. BPS bought the fishing-side of Browning earlier this year. You can't beat this reel for $80 regardless. I have 7.1:1 and 5.4:1. These reels seem smaller than my Revos and are actually more comfortable in my hand. Great reel.

Bass Pro has licensed Browning fishing for a very long time, completing the agreement something like three years ago. Pflueger has not made BPS reels for a number of years, actually, they don't make their own reels, either. They're made at an OEM facility in Korea. The same that makes many other manufacturers reels. Ultimately, BPS has the manufacturing rights to their own reels, there is no other company other than the factory that they deal with.

I'd take the PQ, personally. They're a great value reel.

I have 6 PQs in all 4 ratios. Great reels for the money - especially when on sale. I also have a RevoS, Curado 200E7, two Curado 50Es, and other BC reels that see occasional service. The PQs (and my Carbonlites) are still my front-line reels. The PQs may not be as "smooth" as some of the others...but they work and catch fish.

Exactly. Too bad there couldn't be a sticky on this. Poor Incheon Basser and Maurader Yak have corrected the misinformation about the origins of some of the BPS BC reels so many times but that info gets lost once a thread drops down to the 2nd page or older...

Too close to call - get whichever one looks better/palms better to you. Both excellent reels for the money. Bpro honors competitor coupons so you can bring in a Dicks $15 off $75 and get the PQ for $65..

Thanks for the heads up. Picked up the 6.4:1 (LH) along with a heavy 7'6" BPS rod.

Looks like a pretty nice rig for the little money I got in it.

Should be able to cover some water. We'll see in the morning.
