What hook?

Featured Replies

I need a light wire treble hook that will bend easily for casting a big spoon to ledges.  I would prefer it to be an Owner hook.  Any idea on what hook model I should buy?

you want your hook to bend? :-?

When I get snagged.  And I don't want it to bend on a fish, but when I pull very hard while snagged. Anyways, the way these fish take the spoon, it isn't bending out of their mouths.

well i don't think Owner is gonna supply you with a bendy hook ;D

i'm not sure of any hooks that will bend open without snapping.

maybe you want to look into Lure Saver Split Rings instead of a bendy hook?

Dave has a valid point, why use a good quality hook like an OWNER. if you want it to bend easily/ I could see looking for a lighter, smaller mil wire, to help the action out, but to bend easy; you are asking for trouble with a big fish

You can either have all your lures in your tackle box and no fish, or loose some lures and catch fish, can't have both.

That's what I was looking for, an Owner that has a wire diameter light enough that it will bend a little when I pull very hard.  Though I don't really lose many big spoons while ledge fishing because there is no wood where I am fishing, just scattered rock.  And I also want the lighter wire hook for better hook ups while setting the hook 50-70 yards away from the spoon.

what are you trying to accomplish by having your hooks bend?

its not going to make them come unsnagged unless they bend straight, and then they're no good any more. which is why i suggested you try the lure saver rings, because either way, your hook will be lost, whether you bend it straight or it comes off the split ring.

IMO, you should try to rig them weedless instead of going to a bendy hook.

I guess you guys are right.  Do you guys know what the lightest wire Owner treble hook onthe market is?  Even if it doesn't bend, I need it for better hook sets.
