Value Jet Memorial

Recommended Posts

Went fishing at the canal where the value jet memorial is located. I fished senkos texas and wacky, carolina rigged lizards, and a couple hard baits. Spent a couple hours fishing along the bank fished around some structures and some vegetation. Not one bite!!!!! any theories on why the lack of action?

That area can be very tough when the water gets as high as it is. Best bet is making your way into the flats. Of course that is also tough right now, the drought earlier this year has many trails grown over.. Went out of Holiday a few weeks ago into some old trails I had on my GPS. They were so grown over and tight I had to jump in the water just to get my boat turned around.

Personally, when the water gets this high, I enjoy fishing Holeylands or the Fingers off US 27. Both areas have solid banks that keep the fish in the canals. The lures you described work well in both those places.

The canal that is across the hwy. is good bank action. But as Evergladesbasser said it's tough when the water is up and running. Those areas are killer when the water is on the rise after the summer dry season.

Yeah, I went out to Holiday on Sunday to test some props on the Triton. I'm glad that was my goal because we wet a line for a couple hours without a bite. The water was about 3" from going into the parking lot at the ramp. The way they are moving water from Sawgrass, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it go over the edge.

Thanks for the input guys! Evergladesbasser I think I might head out there this weekend. Despite the cold front coming in I hope for a bit more success lol. If you can DM me the coordinates so I can find on google earth.

I have fished there a few times and I have only caught on deep and medium diving crankbaits. This was at night as well, forgot to mention that a few also came on frogs fished parallel to the shore. One fish I got from there was about 4 pounds and missing half of his lower jaw. Felt bad for it. I never did have any great days there.
