Megabass Jerkbaits

Featured Replies

Could someone please tell me the differences in the straight eye and down eye versions. I tried a search but I dont think i found what I was exactly looking for.

Do you guys fish them? I was reading in the recent BASS magazine a little about them. Seems there are both pros and cons. Its really hard to justify spending that much on one lure. But I have never lost a jerkbait thus far, I would hope I wouldn't lose one of them if I was to buy it. I have found a couple lures that seems to really make a difference in quality/components. It's made me want to branch out a little more.

The straight eye is the Japanese version, the down eye is the US version. Supposedly, the down eye version suspends parallel to the surface, and has brass, lead and steel weights, as the US version has all lead weights and floats nose up.

the straight eye is the old version.. not japanese, they are all japanese the only difference is some colors are only offered in japan but all 110's being produced now have down eyes and all the old ones have straight.. regardless of japan or us version... anyways... i have personally never used the straigt eye but i love the down eye ones... but the fact people are paying over 100 dollars on e-bay for the straight eye version they must be at least somewhat different than the new ones. i'd like to try some of the older ones but i'm not paying more for one than i pay for a rod so hopefully i meet someone who lets me try one

and they are very sensative to weight so if you want the new one to suspend paralell to the surface one suspenddot will make that happen for you or upsizing the front hook but i'm kinda afraid to hurt the action so i go with the suspendots.. only in winter though when the waters warm i dont care how they suspend....
