Hair Jigs

Featured Replies

I just started making my own hair jigs. I bought some new materials at Bass Pro yesterday. I also wanted to try powder paint for the jigheads. Below is a pic of the new ones I tied up last night.

I was pretty proud of these. I just hope they catch fish. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Those are sweet! I'm sure they'll catch just fine.

Wow those are nice. Job well done.

Thanks a lot guys! I am officially addicted to tying jigs.

Those are very nice. The crystal flash really adds something. Did you do the painting too?

Thank you! I did paint the heads as well. I bought a container of the powder paint. I used a lighter to heat the jighead for a few seconds, swirled it in the powder, tapped off the excess powder and it became glossy after a few seconds. They turned out nice.

Good work. I will have to try it on my next batch of carp jigs.

To make the power paint stay on, it need to be baked. I use a small toaster oven when I'm doing 3 or 4 dozen. Set it at 320 degrees for 20 minutes. There tough as nails, I can bounce a Sauger jigs off the bottom a long time the paint is still good. But If I only heat them with my heat gun, it does not stay on there for long.

i started off tying hair jigs and flies, now im tying rubber skirted jigs using wire. Its very very very addicting.

Good looking jigs. I plan on doing my first bass and walleye bucktails this winter. Hope mine come out as good.
