Strike King Jerkbait

Featured Replies

How does the Strike King Jerkbait work compared to others? Does it have good action and does it suspend well? I am looking to get a few jerkbaits and don't want to break the bank.

Thanks!

I have a few and like them. One thing I have found with jerkbaits is you really need different brands because they all act differently. Some have more of a rolling action than others. Sometime the bass want one that has a lot of roll to it and then other times they want one with more subtle action. I've caught just as many on my $5 jerkbaits as I have my $20 ones. It just depends on the fishes mood that day.

It works for KVD.....?

My favorite jerk baits are the Rapala X-Rap. I've caught a lot of fish on the Rapala Husky Jerk, the Bomber Pro Long A, and the Storm Original ThunderStick and Jr. ThunderStick. I haven't used Strike's King Wild Shiner a lot but I have caught some good fish on them.

Like Hound_dog said, you need to have several different brands because they all act different. Sometimes the subtle difference in bait makes all the difference in the world.

The Wild Shiner is a pretty decent bait, really. I've had great luck with it in extremely cold water as it's a very, very tight bait. It doesn't roll nearly as much as a Pointer 100, and it's not as wide as a Vision. Its primary drawback, to me, is that I usually want a shallower bait in that tight roll, and it's a deeper running bait.

That said, you'll sort through a bunch of them in order to find a really good one.

A waste of time and money...

Go with the Pointer, X-Rap, Husky Jerk, McStick or MegaBassVision 110.
