H20 express questions

Featured Replies

Hey folks, a couple of questions about some of Academies products. I went in today, and saw a couple of things that peaked my interest.

The first item I eyeballed was there H20 express jerk bait. They look so good; I almost want to try and fillet em'. My question is do they suspend like a rapala?

The other thing I'm going to try out is their mono. It's 1700yds of 20 lb test for 5.99$. I figure if I don't like it I can go trade it in for some big game. Thanks a bunch!

H2o Crankbaits and jerkbait are awesome. They are the best crankbaits in my box.

I've never tried their mono though. But I haven't found anything with the H2O label that wasn't good quality.

H20 baits are a tremendous value...they have detailing and hooks that generally only come on high dollar baits.  That said, stay away from their mono.  It was terrible abrasion resistance.  I tried some on my spinning rod.

Im with The_Natural on the mono.Go ahead and get you som big game. The H20 baits are awesome for the price.I have many and I really like all the color options the have.

Hey all, thanks for all the info. I'll shy away from that mono.  :'(. I know what a great value the cranks are, I have many in my bag. However, my original question is do the jerkbaits suspend?  :-?

Those crankbaits are the only ones I'll buy. I refuse to pay 16 bucks or more for a lucky craft - especially when they have one that dives less than a foot that costs the same as one of the jerkbaits - can you say buying the label? I know they're great baits - probably the best you can buy, but you can't tell me that they aren't overpriced when both those baits cost the same.

Off my rant - I love the h2o line. I caught all but 3 of the 20-30 bass I slayed last week at Guntersville on a clown colored h2o square bill!

The jerks are good quality and paint is good. VMC hooks but from the ones I have they don't suspend like my x raps. All of mine actually do float. Not fast, but they do rise. But they are a good bait at an awsome price, worth the money. The shallow cranks are great too. They make one of my favorite topwater walk the dog baits. And the jointed swimbaits are killer too. But as mentioned above STAY AWAY FROM THE LINE. It is pure garbage. But every other H2O product I have used, I have loved.

I believe mine float as well...Very similar to the the rapala floater. They rise to surface slowly.

I have to get mine through my parents down in Texas. They are my connection... ;D

Sure wish we had them up here.  :'(

X2!! I've heard a lot 'bout those stores, but I  can't get to one. And ya can't order over the internet!!!!!

I have a couple of their "sammy" style top water baits and I love 'em.  I also have a "Mettle" b/c reel that I like.  So far those are the only items I've purchased in the H2O line.

As far as the mono, I haven't heard any good reviews yet.  For the rods, I've read mixed reviews.

Overall I'd have to say it's a pretty good line of products.

Their whole set of baits are great, and so is the price. Quality hooks, components, paint, etc. Not sure about their line though, haven't tried it.

The baits are great. Has anyone tried their reels? Lots of bearings and a great price. Just wondering.

I had the black one not shore what its called but i have had bad luck with them.

Me and my friend found them on sale for $30 and bought 6, out of those 6  four of the handles broke off and on one of my friends (it was his fault) casted half the reel off  . But they casted great when they where in one piece

Just because they have a lot of bearings does not mean they are quality reels.

That's my big gripe about Academy. I have one in town so I can go anytime I want, but I like cruise web sites when I'm stuck in the office, and Academy's sucks! It's comparable to wal-mart's website when it comes to fishing stuff. Academy has like 4 or 6 aisles front and back full of bait and they mention having 1 pack of rage tails online!? I don't understand

While I agree the Academy website sucks and I wish they had more on there. I know they would make a lot more money if they did internet sales. But even though it is my main purpose for going there ( besides good prices on my Bridgestone golf balls) I don't think they think fishing is the main thing they sale. You have to think how much clothing, golf, football, baseball, hunting stuff they sale. They are in fact a sporting goods store, and a really good one at that. I do wish they did internet sales though, that way all of these guys could get H2O baits.
