Good maybe I can get rid of some of my old fiberglass rods :respect-059:

they have always had the reel trade in. you bring an old reel and they give a discount depending on the price of a new reel. the reels get donated to kids groups and clubs. last year when i bought my PQ they had little zebcos for $5. you buy the reel you get the discount. i did that and got $10 off my reel. i saved money and a kid gets a new fishing reel

From what I've heard is Bass Pro will be having Rod and Reel trade ins on select dates.

Yep, i have done the reel trade many times to buy a better reel and get a good discount. But they have never done a rod trade in!! Oh Boy.!!

I think they do it only one weekend of the Spring Classic. And the rod and reel have to work because they donate them to the kids club or make-a-wish or something like that. It is a good thing for the kids that are not well off. A few years, I would trade in two reels and only buy one,it helps the kids out!

The Spring Classic lasts 3 weekends and it starts Feb. 24 to March 11. I am pretty sure they have it on the second weekend. It will be in the Spring Classic flyer. And if you don't get them just check at the Bass Pro web site Basspro.com ! And they have the reel/rod trade in at ALL stores.

I don't think all the BPS stores is participating the rod trade in. After researching around, only a few stores are advertising the rod trade -in. Could just be an oversight on the individual store sites. I called my local BPS and they had no clue to having a rod trade-in. If anyone have anything different, please advise. Thanks.

I did see it as an upcoming event at the NorCal store. It would be a bummer if only a few of the stores do it, so hopefully the local BPS guys just do not know it yet (it's amazing to me how uninformed they are with BPS-specific things sometimes).

Are the flyers in the mail now or are you guys getting them at your local stores?

i was at bass pro today the deal is if you bring in a reel you get money off of a reel if you bring in a rod you get money off a rod if you buy a 100$ reel or rod you get 10$ off a 200$ rod or reel you get 20$ off you cant bring in a combo and get money off of a combo

I called BPS in Ft Lauderdale yesterday. The dares for rods are different than reels. The reel trade in has a longer time frame, the rods will be only from 3/2-3/6, I did not get the price breakdown. As long as the rods are in good condition, you can use them for trade, has nothing to do with the original price of them. The trade in rods are donated, but basically this is a discount on the new rod you with to purchase. I don't want to donate an old rod, I'm going to buy an inexpensive $10 rod for trade, I'll still be ahead of the game and I'm donating something new, the BPS manager said many do the same thing.

I visited the Cincinnati BPS this week and one of the workers said that Shimano was participating in the trade in this year. This however has not been confirmed by a flier as mine has not shown up in the mail.

I just called my local BPS, spoke with someone in fishing department and they had not a clue of a rod trade-in or if Shimano was participating. I'll be calling back this weekend.
