What Do The Shad Look Like?(North Carolina)

Featured Replies

I fish mostly North Carolina Lakes, Falls, Jordan, Gaston, Harris, Norman, etc... I've had decent fishing with crankbaits that were partially white and partially blue or green(sexy shad), also others that were more bluegill colored.

I was wondering if anyone knew more specifically what the bait fish look like in specific lakes?

There are two main different types of shad in the piemont threadfin and gizzard....here is a video to see their difference.

here is a picture

First is the threadfin, Second is the Gizzard

Yes, Falls have both the species of shad shown in my post also.

I always have had great luck with the Blue Back Herring either lipless or sqaurebilled. Also Strike King's sexy shad seems to pull em in too....
