Best Rod Under $110?

Featured Replies

I am looking for a good all around baitcasting rod. I've heard good& bad things about carrot stix wild, the abu Garcia veratas seems like it has very heavy action on all of the Rods but I haven't heard bad about them, and I haven't heard much about the st. Croix mojo bass, ive felt these things at the dicks near my house and I love them. But in your opinion what should I get?

Be patient and keep an eye on ***.com They always have rods that are $150+ on sale for $110 or less... Just picked up a $170 powell for like $110 and have gotten some other great deals.

I would go with the veritas.

idk why its edited out..,

tackle warehouse . com

it's borderline on your price range but i feel there is no better rod for ~$100 than the BPS carbonlite.

lamiglas excel. awesome rad that is made in the usa for $110

there are a bunch of Powells on TW for 100-110. Can't beat em for the price

yeah i just got one of them powells. If you can stand the pink and purple colors, the endurance rods are great

I have the veritas 7'6" MH which I use for flip & pitching, I absolutely love this rod but I wouldn't consider it good for all around use. I've heard really good things about the Mojo rods from two good friends who own them and swear by them. If you can swing the couple extra bucks I would recommend the new Rage rods from St. Croix. I have the 7'1" MH casting rod and its great for worms, spinnerbaits, & crankbaits. Its kinda hard to suggest 1 rod for "all around use" but there are definitely some that are more versitile than others. It really depends on how, where, and what style of fishing you do most often. If you can narrow that down then it will make your search a lot easier. Good Luck Jimbo!

I have all three of the rods you mentioned. If I could only choose one, it'd be the Mojo I think. They're all great rods, and I wouldn't hesistate to buy any of the 3 you mentioned. Dicks here has all three, so if I were you I'd try to get my hands on all three and decide which one you like best.

The new shimano's are looking pretty sharp. The Clarus is in your price range.

They added some nice features to their lower model rods.

I picked up a 7'7" Clarus flipping stick and have been really happy with it. I was going to get another daiwa but without looking back at my shimano tags, I think they give a limited lifetime warranty on the clarus (don't shoot me if I'm wrong but it was a better warranty than daiwa)

Good luck dude!

Big fan of the Vendetta series and the Carrot Stix Wild series of rods.

I would go with the vendetta or the veritas i have a few of each, great rods for the price.I would stay away from the carrot stix imo,I had a mh gold series and it broke it took me almost 2 months to get some one to answer the phone there to get it replaced, had my verdict break sent it to them and less then two weeks had a new rod.

Try that Veritas-micro guide one out.

Try that Veritas-micro guide one out.

I Have been eyeballing them,I need a medium action for my spinnerbaits, was thinking of getting the micro guide series for that.

I would go with the veritas as well. The mojo series of rods are way too tip heavy for my preference, and actually the 6'6" mh model they have was more tip heavy than the 7'6" mh veritas I now own. I am making the slow transition to making nearly all of my rods veritas rods. For 100 bucks, you can't beat them.

I'm partial to the Abu line (Vendetta and Veritas). The Veritas is an excellent all around rod but, in my opinion, it tends to act a bit stiffer than the specs.

Before you make a decision, take a look at the Denali Jadewood series. They are $90-$100 rods with a limited lifetime warranty. I honestly don't think you'll find a nicer rod in that price range.

The Cabelas Prodigy is a good rod as well and they have it with both the regular and micro guides for right at $100

Go for it, I've been eyeballing them too.

Personally, I would wait for the release of the Powell Diesel rods. Powell rods are great products and I would be willing to bet that the new Diesel rods will be above all other rods in its class. They will be $70.
