January 17Th Topwater Frogging

Featured Replies

Fishing in the Everglades has beed hit and miss lately with high and cold water flowing. I visited a local preserve a few days ago and found the topwater bite to be good. Even with cooler water temps the bass were chaseing down the frog and had a couple of outright mega hits. Within 25 minutes i had 3 fish over 5#'s. I finished the 2 hour trip with 6 bass all on top and wearing shorts. The funny thing is I went back dwo days later and 15 degrees cooler and was luck to get a couple dinks.

dude! that's a real beauty right there. it'll be at least 3 months before there's any consistent topwater action around here. you are a lucky man Shane!

I like those dark colored bass - great fish!

I like the background in the photo as well. The Glades were my home waters in the 1960s - reminds me of the old days...

Nice! The frog bite has been off for a while here now, not sure why but they just aren't hitting them like usual.

Capt. Shane way to get em!! I'd take a one 5 pounder a day let alone 3 in 25 minutes. Gotta love bassin in Florida in winter!!!

That was awesome Shane thanx for sharing that with us!!!!

I need to move to Florida...Really...shorts in Febuary and fishing top water.

Hey I know that spot.... ;) .

Nice work Shane. I would LOVE to be out there this morning. 73 degree for low last night, partially overcast and light wind...I'll bet the frog bite is off the hook right now.

Excellent video Shane.

You will get that elusive DD from that location one of these days. They are in there..

Awesome!
