Veritas Vs. Duckett?

Has anyone used both?

I was wanting to add another 7' MH rod, and was wondering if the Duckett was really worth the extra cash.

Not in my book, it isn't. The Veritas is lighter by a hair, and I like the handles better. The AG rods feel better to me, as well, in terms of overall balance. They're pretty level as far as sensitivity goes, both being in that mid-range of "value" rods. In terms of that, however, the Veritas blows the Duckett out of the water. The biggest thing that you have to watch with the Veritas is spline of the rod, I've seen a few with a pretty goofy guide set, the rod always wants to bend to the side on a straight line pull.

I'll have to go the other direction on this one.

I personally would pay the extra for the Duckett. However, I believe the veritas is the better value. I like the action on the Ducketts better and I think they are a little more sensitive.

Thanks for the input.

I've heard nothing but great things about both rods.

I already own 1 Veritas, but I haven't hit the water with it yet. I do like the feel of it though.

I'm about 50/50 on it right now.

WOW is the veritas lighter, I didn't so statistically or by feeling them. Do you know what rating of graphite Veritas contain? I'm thinking of getting one also.

The Veritas is a "30 ton" graphite. Graphite rating is pretty ambiguous, at best. It really doesn't mean much until you have a finite grasp of what the implications are, as well as what the resins and process entail. When it comes down to it, blank thickness, wall thickness, strain rate, and compression strength, as well as lateral stability are all important factors. One company can achieve the same in all of those categories using a higher modulus graphite than company B uses to make what is essentially the same finished product.

Case in point, the new Crucial is an IM10 graphite, the Cumara is IM10 graphite. The two are completely different in terms of weight, sensitivity, and feel. The resins used in the finishing process are entirely different and build an entirely different rod.

I have 10 veritas and love them. I also have used a duckett and they are both great rods. The only thing that makes me lean to the veritas side is the $50 savings per rod..

The Veritas is made with 30 ton graphite

Veritas. The new paint job is awesome.

I'd spend the extra $50 and get the duckett.

Veritas, I love mine, and will be adding another one shortly.

Never used either one. I only use Custom Rods. With that being said, I won a Duckett rod at a tournament in FL and couldn't give the thing away. I was trying to sale it for half of what they were worth and had people telling me they wouldn't take it for free. I got home to GA and was offering it around the lake I live on and couldn't find anyone who wanted it. I offered it up to a guy I know for free and he wouldn't take it. I ended up giving it to a guy that said he might use it. Don't know what has people disliking the Duckett rods but appearently they have a bad wrap around FL/GA.

I have broke 2 veritas and 2 vendettas all within 1 month. The guy at the tackle store said he had a lot come back so I think it was a bad batch. He let me trade them in and I decided with the Falcon Bucco. It was the same price as the vendettas and they are so much better in my opinion. Have not fished with the ducket but it does feel good. If I had to purchase a rod tomorrow I would go back and get falcon bucco
