I was going through some terminal tackle boxes and found a zillion, well maybe a million, of offset round bend hooks from 2/0 to 5/0. Somewhere over the years my T-Rig fishing morphed from these hooks to EWG exclusively. Can someone fill me in on the best uses for both. I use specific-use straight shank for flipping and pitching. Most of the T-Rig uses are some variety of senko type bait (senko, stik-o, dingers etc) or 10" ribbontails like a Powerworm or Gambler ribbon-tail. In Florida, we fish heavy vegetation cover, or at least I do.

I have some Offset worm hooks that I use for worms (and senkos)

I also use straight shank hooks for flipping/pitching craws/creatures

I think the main difference is the offset point and therefore how it is held in the plastic? I feel that with the smaller EWG I miss some bites b/c the point and the keeper are lined up and not much space between...that's when I like switching to the offset worm hook. I will throw a big EWG or offset worm hook on big 10" worms, Im kinda undecided on that as both seem to work for me.

For me its just how I feel my hook up ratio is with each hook/lure combo.

I find myself gravitating towards EWG hooks more than any of the others. I only use the straight shank for river fishing and because they fit the baits i use for that area better. I have tried the offset hooks but couldn't tell any difference (hook up ratio wise) from the ewg hooks.. Honestly i just prefer the EWG because the bait just seems to sit straighter.

The 5/0 Offset Round Bend is the perfect hook for big worms,

specifically the Rage Tail Thumper and Anaconda.

i use the offset round bend for worms, senkos and ribbon tails...they seem (to me) to come through cover better.

i'll also use them on ultra-vibe and speed craws if i'm texas rigging those, but more often i'm using those with a weighted EWG swim type hook.

i'll use EWG for thicker plastics....beavers..etc.

I use nothing but EWG, my hookup rate is great and baits rig straighter on them.
