i came across one of my old bass masters magazine and i read about jigs that hit that market at that time that are slow falling like the zero gravity jig which drops i think 1 foot every 3 seconds my question is has anyone used them or have them if so how do you like them cause right now i love up north and a lot of the underwater vegatation is dead and there is some spots but for the most part just hard structure and i was thinking about getting some

I agree w/ Monte, but what you could do is tie some skirts on punch hubs and use these with a Texas rigged trailer. The fall will be real slow.

gall, I had some of those back when. Never got a fish to hit one. I gave them all away a long time ago. Save your money and follow some of the previous suggestions.

I'm not saying they would never work. Maybe some place and time would be right for them. I'm saying I never found that place and time.

thanks for all the tips guys my problem is im not a good jig fisherman and the biggest problem is right now its so cold up here i cant really get out and work on it so i guess just wait till spring and keep working at it im still practicing on how to feel when you get a bite which is slow process for me

If you want to get good at fishing jigs! Then leave ALL your other baits at home and just go fishing and take the jigs and fish them all day,and what a difference it will make! If you take your other baits along you will for sure, put the jig rod down and go back to your old faithful bait!

A slow sinking jig would drive me nuts. A weightless senko drives me nuts and I know that is a good bait in certain situations. All slow sinking baits drive me nuts. One of the things I need to work on during the upcoming season is to stick with a bait for more than 10 minutes.

I'm in the south, jigs with a slow ROF would be just the thing to nail those suspended bass, since it never got REALLY cold here. Just a lil thing Id like to pass on, Im headed out to try it today, is wacky rigging a minnow in a 1/8 oz jig head to give it a wounded action. Can't wait to see how that all plays out.

gall, your avatar photo tells me you're way too young to remember that at one time, "jig fishing" meant tying on a bucktail jig with an Uncle Josh #11 pork frog.

Bucktail is buoyant and pork frogs are bulky, thereby slowing the fall. Our Uncle is still around, but you might have a hard time finding a bucktail jig these days. (Tie your own?)

You may be interested in the technique known as "deadsticking" which, if I understand it correctly, involves doing nothing but letting a bait sit on the bottom until a bass in a neutral feeding mode gets curious enough to pick it up. This is not a technique for the overcaffeinated.

And hey - Once your water warms up to say, 47 degrees, tie on a suspending jerkbait. That may keep you busy on a sunny afternoon.

thanks for the tips i do use a weightless zoom trick worm instead of a senko for dead sticking i throw it out on a 3/0 texas rigged and just let it do its thing down usually they hit it on the drop or pick it up off the bottom and thanks for the tip with the jerk bait i fish a lot of farm ponds and the one i fish is pretty deep and i heard about the jerk bait trick before but now i know the water was too cold for it luckily lately its been extremely beautiful weather ( 50s some day up near mid 60s) in pa which was a delight for me but thanks for the bucktail idea ill have to try it
