Solid Color Bait You Never Use

Featured Replies

Is there a solid color soft plastic you always disreguard or ignore for whatever reason? White or albino are colors i never give a chance. Just curious if anyone else does this on a conscious or subconcious level.

yea, same as you. for some reason white and albino never get a chance, i have some baits that are those colors but they really never get used.

White soft plastics rarely get used. I will throw a bone popper and white/grey back cranks, but rarely do I throw a solid white soft plastic. Actually, I think the only white soft plastic I have ever thrown was a pearl white fluke. I have no doubt that white works, its just not one of my confidence colors.

Oxblood has never produced one single bite for me, either plain or with some kind of flake in it. White, on the other hand, is a "go to" color for me in fluke type baits, grubs and occasionally tubes.

I can't think of a color that I haven't thrown and caught at least one fish on. White/Albino flukes are confidence baits as well as chartruese and bubble gum flukes.

Sapphire blue jig chunks

Yellow floating worms on the back of buzzbaits

green pretty much a mainstay for many people

reds-blacks-purples- all night time colors

Maybe grey! just cuz I can't think of any reason why I would want grey over a white or black.

for me, i'd say anything that is RED has never produced. I have caught something on everything else but red. you wont find anything in that color in my box :(

I've caught fish on white grubs, but never on any other white soft plastic. THe other colors that I've never caught anything on are bubblegum and orange.

Light brown bought some never ever going to use them

Opaque orange or yellow would be ones I never tried. Ohers that are see through orange like pumpkin I've had luck with, but those usually have flakes in them. What's funny is trout, salmon, and steelhead go nuts for all those solid colors - white, pink, orange, yellow, green. Bright green would be another. They always have flakes in them.

Interesting question. I can't think of a soft plastic color, that I've tried, that hasn't produced at least one time or another.

But what color haven't/won't you try? Black and white is another I've seen that I never tried.

A solid color bait? Blaze orange (I see lots of trick worm type baits in this color) Never bought any, never thrown any and probably won't anytime soon. (they'll probably be killin' blaze orange trick worms this spring) :laugh5:

Scott, they kill pink and orange jerkbaits up here...a "not so much a secret anymore" in my circles.

Look what's flying over my head:

And what it caught:

Why they would work for hardbaits, and not soft is probably a myth. I still ain't throwing an orange worm, LOL.

Bubblegum has never produced for me.....On my home lake if you don't have a white fluke in the boat you are gonna miss out on allot of fish....

But what color haven't/won't you try? Black and white is another I've seen that I never tried.

Black and white is one I have never really wanted to try either. When I had my bait company, I had a couple of guys special order this color. One guy ordered something like 300 4" ringworms. It must work.

Pink worms! If there comes a day I need to use them I'm out.

I use a White paddle tale with large black flakes a lot.

Bubble gum is a color ive been wanting to try but havnt, ill grab a pack.. Walk around the store then end up putting it back

Bubblegum is a confidence color for me!

Like some, I can't think of a color that I haven't caught at least one on....

Pink worms! If there comes a day I need to use them I'm out.

The solid I just can't come to throw is some hideously ugly cherry red from, I think, Luck E Strike. I'm sure it would work somewhere, but I haven't found the need.

got schooled by my partner who was using a bubblegum/pink trickworm once..the d**n thing would barely even touch down and it would get annihilated!

He actually found out about the "magic color" a few days earlier when i was working, told me about it and i still would not break down and buy this day-glo pink bait..thought he was kidding around.

never had much luck w/ that color anywhere else, but it still crushes 'em today on this one lake!?!?

Have bad luck w/ all solid red or orange.. :Idontknow:
