Anyone Own A Phoenix?

Featured Replies

I'm considering one, I test drive it in 2 weeks.

Main concern is rough water handling.

That or a Stratos 210 Elite or Bass Cat Jag, are tied for a close second, very close.

I have been running a Phoenix 721 ProXP for two years (2011 and 2012 model). This boat absolutely sells itself after you test drive it. My home waters are Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend, and I need a boat that handles big, rough water. I've driven almost every boat brand out there, including Tritons for the 10 years previous to buying a Phoenix, and the rough water ride of a Phoenix is second to none! Fishability is super, especially in the wind/waves. Phoenix has tremendous storage and many innovative and angler-friendly features. Feel free to send me a PM with your contact info if you'd like to discuss.

I don't mean to interrupt but how is the deck width. the thing i don't like about for instance bass cats is how quickly the front deck tapers off. they advertise this wide beam but its at the back of the boat. I love how nitros carry their width so far up into the front deck. is this similar to the phoenix boats?

Don't test ride in one. I mean DO NOT..... If you do, Your hooked . I don't own one yet. But went last spring and took the plant tour, and even got to see one yesterday in town. There nice and so far I have not heard anyone that does not like there rough water ride.

Plus the local Pro here that has New 2012 721 told me yesterday his hit 80 MPH and had a pic of the GPS with it doing it.

I think my wife may kill me, but within the next 3 years or so, I will have one of these.

Thanks guys.

The dealer who also sells several other brands told me after visiting the factory he was very impressed with the work going into the hull, he claims they are an unbelievable boat.

On the 721 (20' 11"), it has a max 96 inch beam. The beam width is carried well up to the front deck, but it does taper a little. Don't get me wrong, plenty of room and width on the 721 front deck. I can get some measurements if you wish.

The new model for 2012 is the 921 (21' 6"). On this boat, the 96 inch beam is completely carried up past the windshields. This boat is a beast.

I have a Yamaha 250 SHO on my 2012 721, and I am still breaking the engine in. But, I have hit 78 MPH without doing much tinkering with the engine height.

Is that with a Tournament Load? With a limit of fish and water in the wells? This one was in a Tournament, and still hit 80 GPS.

Also if and when I do get one, It will sure have the SHO hanging off the back. That or nuclear powered LOL But then again I don't care for the fast speed, If it will run 60 MPH I would be more then happy. Plus for the most part run it 45 or so 95% of the time. There is times you need speed but most time I'm happy with my 40 MPH Lund now.

It was fully loaded, other than the livewells.

What price range are we talking about? All new boats or used? I love my BassCat. Had a Stratos, ridden in Triton's, both were nice but not like my BassCat. Never been in a Phoenix, might be a great boat. In my Stratos I could count on getting wet. Only time I have gotten wet in the BassCat was because of rain. As far as width, my Cat looks like a aircraft carrier deck. My boat is 14 years old. If price is no option and you want everything get a 2012 Jaguar with a 350 Mercury.

I looked at Phoenix recently (721). The thing that bothered me was the back deck was bigger than the front.. If your comparing Nitro to Phoenix in usuable deck (carpet to carpet edges) width the Nitro is 7 inches wider in front of the console.. No doubt the Phoenix will scream.. Depends on what you want. Bigger boat or faster boat? Loved alot of the knick knack ideas in the Phoenix tho. ie place for pliers, snake light in the tackle storage etc etc..

The thing with the Phoenix is, not only is it fast, but again IMO it provides the best rough water ride of any brand out there.

I have heard nothing but rave reviews on those rigs. Above the handling and comfort, I've heard that you get all the bells and whistles included in the pricing. And they have thought of pretty much everything you could ever need or want in a bass rig. And...since they aren't affiliated with a motor company, ie. skeeter, you can get any brand of engine you want.

I saw one at the federation tourney last year, it was beautiful!!!!!!!!!
