Too I weighed it and it is 5.82oz just a bit under it rating so thats good. Another thing, I looked it over and over and there are not any blemmishes at all cosmetically great BPS

Doesnt seem to be any protrusions that interfere fits in palm nicely. The knobs one has no play the other has like 1/64" just a tic bit of movement in/out.

The base sure looks to be lacking in the amout of bracing but guess thats how to reduce some weight.

Was wanting some Tatsu line for it but found out this BPS doesnt sell the stuff so got powerpro super8slick.

I got one in rh but I think its going back, I feel so awkward using them. LH reels are much easier for me. I really wanted the 7 ratio. The box felt empty when I picked it up its so light. I didnt even notice the bottom of it as you have it in the pics

I'd rather have the extra weight and have a stronger "looking" reel foot. As a matter of fact I spent some time just holding (put them on a rod also) several different models that are light weight like this while at the store, the new Abu MGX, Quantum EXO, Lew's SS Tournament Pro, and my impression was that I'd rather fish a reel that weighs 7 - 8 oz. and feel like I actually have a reel in hand instead of one that feels so light it's hardly there. Maybe that was just my way of justifying that I don't need to spend that much money on it.

Taking a better look at the photo - it looks like the JM-CL still has a thin bridge between the feet. But, like you say, lack of a bridge is probably not a big deal - it works for Daiwa!

i'd guess that, since these reels have one-piece frames where the feet are cast together as part of the frame, having a bridge or not having one makes no difference for the types of freshwater duties these reels are designed for. here are some pics of other reels with split feet:

I dont know, but to me those other reel you guys posted all look to have better bracing bridge no bridge. Like mentioned for its intended use should hold. I dont think Ill do like the EXO and run a truck over it.

I thought the jmc had a carbon handle or does it actually in the pic? I have all curados but this reel looks sick!!! i heard that they were light. what's the price point. bps reels have come a long way. I won a little bps extreme last year as a door prize and even as low as it is on the scale, it feels like a solid well built reel. just finicky as all get out with the cast control but get it right with a rattle trap and it will freakin hurl!!!
