Just picked up my new rod and reel and I am anxiously awaiting ice out... Going from a 6'6" rod to a 7'2". I also am switching from an enigma right handed reel to the jm sig left handed. Hoping the change in both the rod and reel will help improve my game. With the old setup I had a difficult time telling when I had a fish on my hook or not. Gullet hooked many last season and thought too often that I was getting a hit when nothing came into the boat... (was fishing on boulders under water so Im sure that had something to do with that)d

x2 on the braid, or at least fluorocarbon. Braid would have even helped on the old rig. If you kept it, you can rig one for top or middle water, and the other for bottom fishing. That way you can more quickly determine if there are any aggressive fish in the area you are fishing. BTW, nice new rig, hope it exceeds all your expectations. I do more Carbonlite gear but, I bet you are going to love your new gear for YEARS!

I fished w fluro on my old rig. I do still have it and am keeping my old rig plus we have a spinner... Gonna hv all three ready to go on ice out! But now we r getting a major snowstorm and I am hoping it leaves as soon as it came...
