Berkley Sensation Line

Featured Replies

Got new line last night. I wanted Vanish fluorocarbon, but they didn't have that so I went with Berkley Sensation instead. I think it's a copoly line. I plan to use it on 2 rods for jigs, T-rigs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, and the occasional crankbait or jerkbait. Will it sink or float?? I sort of need it to sink on the jerkbaits to help get the depth I want. I got 12 and 14 pound tests. I'll put them on M/F and MH/F rods.

Since it is a mono I am pretty sure it will float. I have it on one reel that I've used for C-rigging but will replace it with braid this year. Nothing wrong with the line I am looking for more sensitivity with the braid.

It does float, I used to use it in 8 and 10 lb test on my drop shot and finesse rods. Never had any issues with it, but I don't have any issues with Vanish either.....go figure.

Is it as sensitive as fluorocarbon??

No

Fluorocarbon will always be more sensative than a copoly such as Sensation. However, I fished with sensation all the time a few years ago and it has a slightly smaller diameter than other monos and copolys in the same lb test which helps get cranks and jerkbaits down deeper but not as deep as fluorocarbon would. For the best of both worlds try the Spiderwire Fluorobraid. I've had some good luck with it when i tried it last fall. its a braid that does sink!! Got all the sensativity and handling of braid yet has the sinking action of fluoro.

Well, after using this line the very few times I've been out, I've found it to be every bit as sensitive as fluorocarbon was for me. I used it to jig fish and I could feel the little tap, tap, taps that the bass made when they picked the jig up. It wasn't any different than I recall using fluorocarbon. I haven't fished it enough to tell you a lot more than that, such as how well it holds up in heavy cover, and all that, but the sensitivity is definitely there.
