Hey Everyone,

I have a question mostly for shorebound bass fisherman but I am sure it applies to everyone. I have a feeling that I tend to stick with one bait too long and don't change when I could be catching fish on something else. So, how long do you guys take before you either change lure, color, retrieve, or location, and which would you change first and most often when you are fishing an area that has produced before but isn't anymore? If you can give me maybe a time frame or a rule of thumb for the number of casts that you would do in an area before change is needed I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks everyone.

When fishing from the bank I will cover the entire area top to bottom changing retrieves. How long does this take depends on how confident I am that I covered the area completely. Once I've established a pattern then I'll only change locations.

I'm not big on changing lures or colors like most people

I'm not saying my way is the best or that it's even good, but I believe in covering a lot of water unless I have a real productive spot. If I'm not getting hit my inclination is to move rather than to change lures or colors.

If you are pretty confident there are fish near a good piece of structure and you have dragged it in front of them and still haven't had a bite, dont give it more than fifteen minutes before you tie on something else.

If you are searching for fish, tie on a spinnerbait or a suspending crankbait and vary your retrieve speeds and depths to find fish. Be more patient here.

Still nothing, find new structure.
