Why is it that my topwaters only seem to work in lower light periods and in the shallows? I fish a farm pond that is 12' deep max.

    I assume you're fishing in the South, so I don't know. But I can say here in western New York I get a lot of fish on topwaters in sunny conditions from spring through fall. Maybe it's confidence? At any rate, I have no hesitation about using topwaters under clear skies.
